Gap patterns can be used when you want to apply a pattern to your department to fulfil the needed demand, but do not mind who takes the shifts as long as they meet certain shift defined requirements.

Once you have created a gap pattern, you can easily assign the shifts, send them out to be requested or auto schedule them.

To create a gap pattern, you want to open the shift patterns tab.

Click add pattern and choose a name for the gap pattern you want to create. Here, you can then choose the location(s) you want it to be associated with.

To turn your pattern into a gaps pattern, toggle on ‘gaps only’.

If you want the demand to be the same each week, you can keep the pattern to a 7 day pattern. However, if you would like to create a multi-week gap pattern, allowing you to change your demand each week but apply them all at one time, you can set days to create a longer gap pattern.

To add a shift, click the plus button on any day the same as you would on the scheduler. This will bring up the modal where you can enter an ad-hoc shift or use your custom shifts. You can also change the amount needed by increasing the quantity.

Same as the scheduler, you can copy shifts across days. Shifts can overlap on a gap pattern but will be individual shifts on the scheduler.

Keep building your pattern until you’ve created the demand you need. Patterns automatically save as you make amendments.

If you need to make additional patterns, you can use the copy button in the top right hand corner. This will prompt you to add a new pattern name and then it will replicate your pattern; you can then make any additional changes you need to.
