If you would like to know how to setup your Rotageek multi-factor authentication please click this article: Setting up Multi-Factor Authentication for Rotageek

Multi-Factor Authentication: What Is It?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is used to verify whether a user's identity is real. The user must provide two or more pieces of proof to be authenticated (on Rotageek, this is your password and the code generated by your MFA application).

Adding additional authentication factors in order to boost security is one of MFA's main objectives - a well-designed multi-factor authentication strategy aims to strike a balance between user convenience and increased security.

The benefits of Multi-Factor Authentication

By demanding more authentication factors, multi-factor authentication aims to create additional security layers. Using the authenticator on your phone will make your account safer because it is unlikely that a hacker who has acquired your password has also stolen your physical possession.

I don’t have access to my device, what should I do?

If you cannot use/don’t have access to the MFA app, please contact your administrator who will be able to help.

Can I change what authentication app I use?

You should be able to transfer your data from one application to another in order to generate the code in an alternative application.

Examples of Multi-Factor Authentication applications

Head to the App Store / Play Store on your mobile and search for one of the following apps:

2FAS

Google Authenticator

Microsoft Authenticator
